End of Term!

I’m sitting in my office, as the fog swirls down out of the trees and around our home.  The perfect day, both timeless and mysterious.  That is what I need, a day and break that has no connection to deadlines, appointments, papers, sermons, lectures, projects, or meals to prepare.   Those things haven’t gone anywhere, the fog isn’t that thick.  However, it is enough for now that my overloaded calender remains hidden in the mist, while I celebrate the ending of this term.

We saw the students off yesterday morning, and celebrated our helpers last night.  At some point, we the workers will get together to mark the end of our craziest term yet.  The impact of new life on an entire community is amazing.  It happened with Gabriel, as everything changed.  It happened again with Samuel, even as we are still adjusting with Gabriel.  Like the mist, or Heraclitus’ river, nothing is really static.  You can never cross the same river twice; you can never have the same day twice; never the same term twice.  Receive it with open arms.

We finished off the term by giving the students an all-island photo scavenger hunt.  Hilarius!  We then had a roast – both us roasting the students and vice versa.  It was a lot of fun, very creative.  Finally we had the annual slide show from the term as we thought about our lives over the past 8 weeks.  I’m too tired to write much, but I thought I’d let you know we are all still here.  Thanks for your prayers.

Here are a picture of Julia, Clarke, and Samuel.  Another of our pond, and of course… GABRIEL – the only reason people read the blog:-)

Proud little canadian after the hockey Gold.

  1. Well done, Jeff & Carrie…we celebrate the end of your great & ‘craziest’ term yet!
[And yes, of course, I do so like to see Gabriel every chance I get :) ]
May the Lord continue that wondrous work He has begun in the departing students and accelerate His stirring on yet another group He will draw there in a month…awaiting ‘hope’ and…a divine change. What wonder
/joy…as you partner with Christ & His Kingdom here on earth. God’s best to you all–in Him– during your ‘busy’ down time. Love ya, TA

  2. Another update?! It’s a springtime miracle! Love hearing how you’re doing – pictures of Gabriel is definitely an added bonus. Glad to hear you are able to find some much needed time to rest and rejuvenate. Love to all of you — Jenn
